 Topic: Beards??? Posted: 14 Mar 2009 at 3:34pm |
Just thought I'd start an odd topic...just in case you're wondering, this is only referring to facial hair on guys!
(personally, I can't stand goatees so I don't know why I put that in)

I totally agree with you, Joleen--facial hair is...really bad. Unless it's my Dad's mustache. Or more like, former mustache.

Actually, Emily, I was trying to decide whether to do the mountain man (oh sorry I meant full beard if trimmed), or the cowboy look...I still haven't decided...sorry to surprise you!! |

| Scruff looks terrible, it looks like a wana be or something. If I was to have any facial hair it would be whole hog or nothing. Full beard is the way to go, goatees look terrible and mustache doesn't look much better. Just my two cents.

I disagree. I picked the goatee option. A goatee can look very distinguished, if it's well-kept....especially if the guy tends to have child-like features. The mountain man thing is AWFUL! It makes a guy look like a bum. I like it on grandpa/father figures, though....but NOT on younger guys. I don't agree with girls growing facial hair of any kind. |

Goatees are the way to go.
Mustaches are outdated now (sorry if I just offended anyone)
Beards...meh...not until your about 50. And thats only a maybe.
If your a country singer then the cowboy look is fine, only as long as you keep it in mint condition.
Mountain man...sick... |

I had a hard time deciding between the cowboy look and the clean shaven. Goatees aren't bad either. |

Definitely the mountain man beard! [howls and doubles over, convulsed with laughter] Really, the mountain man beard looks terrible! AO, I agree: it does make a man look like a bum ... or a really crazy mountain man, of course! )
Personally, I pretty much don't like facial hair on guys.
However, moustaches can look okay, preferably on someone my dad's age. (He looks good with a moustache. When he shaved it off once, he looked really weird without it, and he had a very spooky resemblance to his father [who ironically looked good without a moustache]. My dad once had a beard... I just shake my head when I see those pictures, and profusely thank goodness that he shaved it off !)
Goatees can look good if they are kept trimmed and aren't shaped in a weird way (ex., "Devil" goatee or something similar to it).
The scruffy look can be okay sometimes, if it looks like the way country singer Josh Turner has done it: kept up with without letting it get out of hand.
Well, I guess that leaves me with choice 1. Off to vote!

| Some guys look good with facail hair and others shouldn't even try to grow it!
My dad had facail hair all the time, so I tend to like it... more times then not. |

| I picked the cowboy look. But that is because it can look good on some guy's but other guy's it looks awful! If it looks good I think it's neat, but when it doesn't look good it really is kind of gross! :) Sorry if that offended anyone! |

| Depends on the guy. Scruff looks good on square jaws.

| Is a goatee defined strictly as facial hair on the chin? |

| That is how I defined it, as opposed to a van dyke, but I don't think most are defining it the same way. Why else would they be saying they liked them? lol |

| I think of goattees as the mustache chin hair combo, which is nice, but not cowboyish anymore. More of the professional businessman look. |

The definition I know of goatees is only chin hair, otherwise I wouldn't have done the around the mouth one separate. It doesn't look cowboyish anymore?!? Well, that depends on who's wearing it (I'd say it only looks good on country fellas, but then I've never been into the "businessman look" at all...) |
