Hey guys, I thought it might be fun to have a topic where we could discuss what we've been reading lately, share good books, etc.

Anyone interested?????

It's been so long since I was able to read a book through. I'm debating about whether I should sit down and have a cry-party over it... Naw, I don't have the time to waste doing that.

Ah! I just remembered a book I finished reading some months ago: Hinds' Feet on High Places. It's a very good Christian allegory. I enjoyed it. The sequel — Mountains of Spices — is good, too. I haven't read that one in ages. Tsk, tsk, tsk! I should really start reading again!

Oh, I just remembered another one which I read a few months ago: Eric & Leslie Ludy's latest book Meet Mr. Smith. That one has to be read to be appreciated. If I said too much about it, I would spoil the book. It uses a lot of neat symbolism via people's personalities and names, and suffice it to say, the book will "revolutionize the way you think about sex, purity, and romance" (book's subtitle). I highly recommend reading it! It's funny, entertaining, suspenseful, and most importantly, thought-provoking. Oh, and it's also from a Christian perspective, in case you didn't know.

"Hinds Feet on High Places" and "Mountain of Spices" are good...Dad loves 'em and always used to read 'em to us when we were littler. I haven't read 'em for a long time.

I've read "Light A Single Candle" and "Daddy Long Legs" recently...loved 'em both! What I'm going to read next I don't know. MAYBE I should read "Shadow of the Bear"...

I don't think I've heard of any of those except "Daddy Long Legs" I really like that one except for the parts when she talked about evolution. :)
Some of my favorite books are "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" Elizabeth George Speare, "Christy" by Catherine Marshal (better then the TV show), "The Last Sin Eater" by Francine Rivers, and "The Grandma's Attic Series" those ones are really good!!!

Yeah, titles like that can keep people away who would really like them. But it is a delightful book, and I highly recommend it to anyone! Very good!

I am trying to read a book by Maurice Rawlings an Doctor who's major focus is reviving people who are clinically dead.  The book is called "To Hell and Back,"  sounds like a title to a war story.  It is really fascinating so far.

It seems like most people these days do not like to think of the reality of hell.  This book brings the whole subject out in the light and tries to piece together what we can know about life after death.  Something I haven't really thought about too much but is one of life's most important questions.

Speaking of Hell... I'm about to read Dante's The Inferno for a school book report. Should be an interesting read.

That sounds like a good book Stephen. I'll have to look that up. Who is the author?

Isn't Audie Murphy's autobiography called To Hell and Back?

That does sound cool, Steph. I've heard of such things before...but I've never actually read anything on them.

Yes it is! Kayla got that once but I don't think she read all of it! Audie Murphy is one of my favorite actors!

Sounds good!!!!

I'm reading a book called "Voices of D-Day" right now.  It's by Jonathan Bastable, and I recommend it highly.  It's basically a complilation of quotes from soliders, medics, and civilians involved in D-Day.  Excellent!

Sounds like a good book, I'll have to look it up.  Yeah I am still not done with the book yet, probably should be reading it now.  But yeah I am a terribly slow reader.  Anyway the author is Doctor Maurice Rawlings.  I found it in our local library which is cool.

I've been reading The Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner.  Anyone read those?

I haven't read that one yet! But I'm planning to!

Yeah, I've read The Thief so far and I'm in the middle of The Queen of Attolia! I have to admit I like The Thief better, so far. :)
